As a note, this is just for Windows Vista users with a Creative X-Fi soundcard. PC audio giant Creative had just released the full version of Alchemy for X-Fi series. (For Audigy users. they also stated that they started development Audigy edition of Alchemy)
As some might known, Microsoft has removed HAL for DirectSound and DirectSound3D...bla bla bla in Windows Vista. As a result you won't be able to enjoy EAX effect, est. and audio positioning system might just stopped to work with games which uses DirectSound, like Warcraft, Battlefield, Doom. And the solution that Creative came out with is the Alchemy software, it translate legacy DS calls to OpenAL.
The new version (1.00.04) was a 16MB download compare to beta's less than 1MB (as I remember). Yet, the only thing that I notice changing was the interface = =
Though I haven't tried to game with it, can't say much about it. If you happens to have Vista and a X-Fi, try it!
